XAVIER GRIMBLE

Grimble is a very good tight end prospect as he brings a little bit of everything that you would like to the table. First off, he has ideal size. He possesses good height and while his frame makes him look a little on the skinny side his listed bulk is solid and he has room to add more. He kind of looks the part of a receiving tight end and is a productive target in the passing game. He has good hands and is a nice target. He has a good catching radius. He can bring the ball in with his hands and extend over his head to make the grab. Does a good job of quickly getting into his routes when playing from an in-line position. He runs good routes and can be physical as a route-runner, when he needs to. Has good straight-line speed, takes long strides and can cover some ground, but may not be a true burner. He is a productive target on drag and out routes. With his tall frame, he can be dragged down, but will work to make defenders miss by spinning, juking or lowering his shoulder. He is also very active in the run game as a blocker. He can be a little sloppy in his technique at times, but overall he is a good blocker and at times can be nasty. Does a good job of getting placement with his hands. Despite his height, he works to stay low and can create some push. Needs to be sure to keep moving his feet and will get a little top heavy at times after he gets engaged. Does a good job of working up to second level and is a solid blocker in space. He is asked to pass block and is serviceable in this area. Works to use good technique, but tends to quickly give a lot of ground. The tools are there and with some more work could be a tight end you could ask to handle some responsibility at times as a pass blocker. Overall, Grimble is a very good prospect at the position. Should be a good, well-rounded college tight end.
