TRAVIS DICKSON

Dickson is a versatile, productive football player with a high motor. You can't help but think that no matter where you line this kid up on the field he will find a way to get the job done and be productive. He is a legit prospect on both sides of the ball. On defense, he is a physical defensive end that displays a good get off. When he is active with his hands, he can engage and shed from blockers. At times he will play with a banger mentality and lead with his shoulder. You would like to see him be more consistent with his hands and he needs to work to protect his legs. He moves well laterally and can quickly slant into gaps and get penetration. Does a solid job of squeezing down on daylight and can be productive in backside pursuit. Displays good speed and takes good angles in pursuit. Needs to watch his pad level because he can play a little high at times on defense. As a pass-rusher he is physical enough to bull rush and create some pressure. Can attack the outside shoulder and try to rip his way past the blocker. He is an effort guy who can out-work blockers in passing situations, but looks more comfortable verus the run at this point. Dickson is a good end prospect, but his best fit may be on offense as an H-Back. He lacks ideal height for the tight end position, but can be very good in a tight end/fullback role. He has good hands and is very tough to bring down after the catch. Can be productive in the intermediate passing game. He is a physical and tenacious blocker. From the fullback spot, he can bring the wood as a lead blocker and can test second level defenders spirit when they need to step up and take him on. He does a good job of coming in low and exploding from the hips to drive through the block. He is not a devastating runner, but he can gain some yards on quick hitters and punish tacklers along the way. It's tough to say what position he will play and that will likely be determined by the school he picks. We may give the slight edge to offense, but either way he's a heck of a football player.
