O'Reilly is a dominant drive blocker who can open holes with great consistency. Has the size for the offensive guard position at the major level of competition. Is flexible in a three point stance; comes off the ball with excellent explosion, a flat back and good initial fit. Rolls his hips and follows through with a wide base and very good leg drive. Displays good initial quickness and appears capable of handling quick 1st and 2nd level defenders. Has the agility and balance to get a hat on linebackers with punishing results; plays on his feet well in space. This prospect possesses quickness and power when trap blocking; gets out of his stance well and is very explosive and powerful at the point of attack, delivering crushing blocks. Coming from a run oriented offense, pass protection techniques will need work. His nimble feet and arm length will be assets; shows the ability to short set and control quick immediate movement. Although we see great upper body playing strength and explosion the technical aspects related to initial punch, location and extension must improve. This is a tough aggressive guy with the outstanding finishing attitude capable of dominating opponents in the trenches. O'Reilly may need some time to polish his pass protection skills before becoming a starter. However once accomplished this player should have a long and productive career at the BCS level of play.
