TACOI SUMLER

If this kid were taller he would be on everybody's national radar. With that being said, he might be anyway because despite his diminutive stature, Sumler can flat out run, has special quickness and is a nightmare in space. He is a scatback/slot receiver that can play on the outside due to his speed alone. Forget about his physical traits for a moment and focus on his hands-- he has terrific, quick hands. The ball never gets into his frame. He plucks and tucks with tremendous confidence and it is effortless for him. He can adjust on the move and is a deceptively good leaper on the high ball. He is very flexible so he can scoop the low ball and twist to snag throws behind him. He can surprisingly make plays on the high ball and also in traffic-- is very competitive and works to attack the ball. His overall foot quickness gives him outstanding upside as a route runner because he can stop and start on a dime and does not have to gear down going into breaks and shows terrific burst coming out of the break. He prides himself on double moves and stutter moves than gain separation and he is capable of getting DB's on their heels very quickly and also getting them disoriented and turned around. His surge off the ball is quick and he gets from 0-60 PMH's rapidly. Can threaten vertically and win one-on-one match-ups easily in most cases. His combination of speed, quickness and low center of gravity makes him very difficult after the catch and he does show a second gear in the open field. He is who you want on bubble screens, crossing routes and underneath option routes vs. man or zone because he can take those catches to the house. Obviously due to his size Sumler needs to add bulk and strength and not get held up at the line by bigger, stronger DB's that can outmuscle him. He is not going to be a factor in the red area on jump balls. Overall, Sumler has some unique qualities as an offensive playmaker. He has some things you can't coach. He was not blessed with great size, but his other traits set him apart. He will also find himself in one part of the return game or another as he has the chance to be a difference-maker in this area. Excellent prospect.
