NICK WAISOME

Waisome is simply a gamer and one of the better competitors in this corner class. Has just adequate height but a longer, rangier frame that looks to have a lot of physical development left. Lacks ideal top-end speed and explosiveness but is quick, fluid and very smooth in his transitional skills. Has the loose hips with fluid change-of-direction skill and quick footwork needed to mirror tightly in off-man coverages. Opens, turns and redirects very well. Tight pedal and transitions smoothly in and out. Can recover when beat or out of position with great quicks. Breaks quickly on the underneath throw; soundly anticipates the pass and his jump. Best attribute may be his ability to track the deep ball and adjust his body. Shows great comfort level and natural awareness skills around the football. Will go up and high-point with impressive leaping and ball skills. Aside from lacking explosive top-end speed, right now his biggest weaknesses when projecting for the college level is his lack of strength and physicality as a perimeter run defender and press coverage guy, despite being feisty in both facets. In regards to coverage, he is sharp out of his breaks but at times will misjudge his angles on the pass and will have a more difficult time recovering at the next level. That said, Waisome is very flexible with good quicks and ball skills sought-after in a cover corner. Simply finds the ball in coverage and can make plays. He has the natural ability and athleticism to develop into a great college corner but a lot will be dictated by his continued physical development.
