Big "D" is a very versatile offensive lineman who can play center, tackle or guard. He has good size and is built to be both a solid run or pass blocker. As a center, he's a consistent snapper from both the shotgun or with quarterback under. Can step while snapping with no hesitation or lost motion. Has quick hands and gets them into the defender's frame immediately. Comes out of his stance with low pads and a flat back. Demonstrates good footwork when base blocking, blocking back or reach blocking. Even shows the ability to pull from the center position. Possesses very good strength and at worst stalemates players of equal size and strength. Displays leg drive and foot quickness especially in the run game. Smooth and fluid when getting to second level when uncovered. Shows some athleticism locking up on linebackers; possesses foot quickness and agility. Very consistent as a pass protector from the center position; question will be if same consistency from the tackle position on the edge. Stops pass-rusher with first jolt with his hands and has the feet to shuffle in phase with the rusher while maintaining power angles. Dieffenbach is a mature offensive lineman who understands the game and takes real command from the center position, which is illustrated in the way he plays. Gives excellent effort every play. He has few weaknesses but should be a major contributor at the next level largely because of his versatility and athleticism.
