Wittek has obviously had to fill some big shoes after replacing Matt Barkley at Mater Dei and he has displayed much of the same fundamental soundness to his game as a rhythm and timing pocket passer that is a very good ball handler. Wittek possesses some very impressive tools and footwork working in a scheme that is based out of the multiple I-formation with lots of play-action and timing routes. He has very good height and is a late-bloomer in terms of bulk and frame development which will come at the next level. He is calm, shows balance and good movement skills in the pocket to work through reads and deliver the football. Shows good command of the scheme and has a nice feel for where to go with the ball pre-snap. He has adequate-to-good arm strength and when sound with his footwork can make just about every throw. Compensates with timing and pacing with his feet, drops and delivery. Takes something off shorter passes and shows good touch. Is accurate, throws to a spot and can lead receivers. Shows good range in the short and intermediate zones and throws a quick, catchable ball. Appears to read defenses well and make sound adjustments before the snap. Play-pass ball handling and quickness in his set-up is as good as any in the class. Does a nice job selling fakes and can freeze safeties and linebackers to fit the ball into seams and holes in coverage. He is an adequate athlete, but not a guy that is going to wow you with speed or quickness-- is always going to be at his best when protected and getting the ball out quickly. If he holds on to the ball or is unsure he can get off track and lack efficiency because this takes him out of his comfort zone. Overall, Wittek is a guy that is still blooming and has a high ceiling for development in a pro-style or west coast scheme. He will get stronger and thus be able to make deeper throws at the next level. He is a guy that will continue to see his stock rise with a strong senior campaign. Very good prospect.
