MARVIN SHINN

Shinn is a really impressive wide receiver prospect with terrific measurables, long arms and a smooth stride. He is a long and flexible athlete for a taller prospect and he makes a lot of plays in all three levels of the passing game. He has a long stride and very good surge off the line. Is a combination between a glider and galloper much like last years Justin Hunter. He is tall with a huge wingspan. When the ball is in the air, the defensive back guarding him is at a distinct disadvantage. Makes for a huge target underneath and does a nice job of using his frame and arms to shield defenders from the ball. He actually shows sharp cuts and quick burst into and out of the break as a short-to-intermediate route runner. Does not have to gear down too much at the top of the stem and has some "wiggle" to him as a route runner given his size. He is very good along the sideline and when matched-up one-on-one downfield he shows very good body control and awareness. He has fantastic pure leaping ability and times these jumps very well. He will attack with arms extended on the high ball and also subtle push off and cradle the ball in if need be. He changes gears very well, can lull a cornerback into thinking that he is going full speed and then put it into another gear and blow by him. However, Shinn's overall top end speed is difficult to gauge since he is more of a glider. He has some sneaky quick twitch to him, but may not have that "AJ Green-type" burst for a taller receiver. Nevertheless, Shinn makes plays, shows body control and has very strong consistent hands. He plucks well and consistently catches the ball away from his frame. Overall, we would be surprised if Shinn does not end up being one of the better "big" receivers in this class. He needs to add some bulk and overall strength, but that will come in time and could lend to him being a real physical presence down the field. Excellent prospect.
