KARLOS WILLIAMS

You would be hard-pressed to find a better looking junior safety in America than Williams. He passes the eyeball test with his tall, well-built frame and room for growth on his moderately wide shoulders. Actually plays quarterback in zone read type of scheme and his overall athleticism and straight-line acceleration are impressive. Could grow into an outside linebacker in time or be that freakish size-to-speed type of safety who hits like a 'backer but can cover like a DB. Has great ball and high-point skills. For his taller, thickly-built frame he is a bit stiff at times breaking down and changing direction but overall moves extremely well with good lateral agility and sharpness out of his breaks. His long, high cut frame allows him to cover a lot of ground and offer great range in deep zone coverage. Breaks off the hash with good burst and can get over the top of routes. An intimidating presence over the middle as he breaks hard on the underneath pass with good closing burst and pop on contact. Collision type of tackler who breaks up a lot of balls and is a presence in the box as a run defender. Shows strong plant and drive ability on front-side run support. However, he does not possess great transitioning skills in coverage and appears more proficient defending the ball in front of him than opening to turn and run in coverage. A bit straight-lined and could struggle on his matchup with quicker slots in man-to-man. Needs to play with a bit more knee bend and hip sink. High pad level can hinder his run support ability at times with the tendency to lunge and avoid breaking down. That said, Williams is a supreme blend of size, range and physicality with great ball skills to top off his package. Great prospect who is ready to make the jump to the major college level.
