JESSE SCROGGINS

This kid looks like a high school version of Jason Campbell. Similar build, measurables, arm strength and the throwing mechanics are uncanny. Obviously he isn't quite as developed or as tall. Scroggins can really hum it and possesses a powerful downfield arm. He is a pocket passer with good overall athleticism and the ability to buy second passing chances. He is very consistent and smooth in his overall methods. Drop speed and set is excellent. He is a very balanced passer in the pocket. Shows a calm demeanor and appears to be in control of this scheme. Has displayed the ability to make all the throws with authority and confidence and is an accurate passer capable of fitting the ball into tight spots in the short and intermediate passing game. When his feet are set he can hit the skinny post, seam route and deep out with ease and poise. Works through progressions and you don't see him force the football very much. Takes what the defense gives him and isn't afraid to check down underneath or tuck the ball and get what he can with his legs. Has very good feet to sidestep the rush, avoid pressure and keep his eyes downfield. Has flashed the ability to accurately deliver the ball with people in his face. Delivery mechanics are smooth and over-the-top, but he will whip back a bit. Can get rid of the ball quickly and with pop. Shows velocity and ball speed especially on underneath-to-intermediate throws. Displays touch and timing on deep throws and fade routes. Throws well on the move and is capable of improvising and making things happen on the move. Overall, Scroggins is an impressive guy that is only going to get better with added experience. Has the upside to be one of the better QB's to come out of this class. He can really throw the football, but isn't a one-dimensional pocket passer.
