JACKSON RICHARDS

As a defensive end, Richards may not be great at everything, but he is also really not deficient in any area either. He has good size and a good frame. He plays with good technique, a good motor and is a heady player. He has a good stance and you can see him eyeing the ball and anticipating the snap. As a result, he has a good consistent get-off. He is good with his hands and you can tell he has been well-coached and works to translate what he has been taught on the practice field and execute it in the game. Plays with solid pad level. Does a good job of coming across the ball, shuffling and squeezing down. He takes good angles in pursuit and is a solid tackler, though at times he tends to leave his feet and try to drag ball carriers down. As a pass-rusher, he will flash the ability to try and get to half-a-man and work a quick move or take the counter. He can bull rush, but you would like to see him be more active with his hands and separate from the blocker quicker. He is smart about getting his hands up and batting down and/or altering passes. Displays a good general feel for the game and that helps him to squeeze the most of his ability. Pretty simply, Richards is a good football player. He could come in and likely start contributing right away. May not wow you in everything he does, but he is sound, productive and a good prospect.
