IAN SILBERMAN

Silberman could very well be the most athletic offensive tackle in the 2010 class. He is a tall, lean, and impressive looking lineman that has exceptional feet. Runs like a tight end and is exceptional when in space. Pulls on the counter with proper fundamentals and gets turned upfield in a hurry. Very good in the openfield picking up linebackers or secondary players. Adjusts well on the run and hustles to get the extra blocks downfield. Does a great job of securing perimeter runs by skillfully reaching the outside edge of the defensive end or outside linebacker's pads then turning the defender in while maintaining outside leverage. Slips to second level from the tackle position to seal linebackers attempting to scrape to the outside. Very solid base and drive blocker on inside running plays and maintains good power angles and a flat back for such a tall offensive lineman. Needs to put on some bulk especially in the lower body but has a great frame to build on and shouldn't lose any speed or quickness as he grows physically. Pass protection is also very solid. Kicks back quickly, anchors down, and does a great job of stopping the charge of the rusher with a jarring first punch. Long arms and wing span keep defenders off his pads. Shuffles while maintaining a good base and keeps great relationship with pass rusher. Rarely gets overextended and his foot quickness allows him to recover with ease. Silberman is a coach's dream at the tackle position. He has tremendous athletic talent and is very sound fundamentally. He should progress into an outstanding offensive tackle at the next level and can play very early in his college career as long as he gains some overall strength.
