DE'ANTE SAUNDERS

Saunders is a dynamic athlete and one of the quickest and most elusive prospects in this entire 2011 class. Looks a bit shorter than his listed measurables but is well-defined and very quick-twitched giving him deceptive strength and durability. A blur when he gets the ball in the openfield on offense, utilized at receiver and in the slot; an ideal space player if he lands in the spread. Extremely quick changing direction and cuts exceptionally well at full speed simply freezing defenders in the openfield. Has loose, fluid hips and his feet never stop moving making it near impossible to get a direct shot on and break down on in space. He consistently makes the first guy miss, and usually the second and third as well. Has very smooth movement skills. Runs with good balance and stronger than his measurables would indicate; he'll break his fair share of initial contact and will get North when he has a seam showing good burst. He may be an even better corner when projecting for the college level with his great hips, footwork and natural ability finding the ball in coverage. Should have the foot-quickness and redirection skill to provide great coverage on quicker slots in man and off coverages. While Saunders is well-defined, he does lack great height out on the perimeter and appears a bit quicker than fast. A bit of a tweener athlete but has a playmaker feel to his game and should add immediate versatile and athleticism to a college roster.
