AMIR CARLISLE

Carlisle is a productive running back prospect with great feet, vision and a natural feel for the position. Has adequate size and strength at this stage but will need to continue adding bulk and power to develop into a fulltime back at the next level. Runs with his eyes and instinctively sees the play and his blocks develop. Has a very good feel for closing defenders. Jump-cuts well and displays good overall lateral agility and elusiveness darting in and out of the initial traffic. At his best when he sticks his foot in the ground, plants and accelerates North. Shows good initial burst and quickness out of his downhill cuts. Balanced with good body control. Is like a pinball darting and redirecting sharply in and out of traffic. Perimeter speed and burst to the outside are good. Lowers his pads, runs with a solid base and bounces off a lot of initial contact. Keeps his legs and entire body moving/churning and is determined to finish runs. However, his ability to carry the load early in his college career is a question mark. Projects to be more of a change-of-pace back until he develops more power. Is very shifty but we do see some hip tightness when gearing down to cut at full speed. Has good speed but lacks an explosive extra gear and is more of a one gear back. Overall, Carlisle still has great footwork, agility and a lot of natural running back skill-set to project high at the next level. Creates a lot of production on his own but level of competition appears just to be adequate.
