ANTHONY WALLACE

Wallace is a big strong guy with great instincts. His size and athleticism are what we look for at the inside linebacker position. Shows very good flexibility, quickness and balance; is quick to K&D vs. the inside run; plays down hill well and is able to meet and stack ball carriers at or across the line of scrimmage. Displays the playing strength to take on and defeat blockers; moves through traffic very well, quite often slipping and avoiding blockers while making tackles behind the line. This player has a great motor vs. the run; plays sideline to sideline, showing very good pursuit habits and playing speed. Is an excellent tackler who hits a ton. Is explosive on contact bringing his hips and feet; will punish a ball carrier if given the opportunity; demonstrates good one arm ability when on occasion he overruns a play. Does a nice job in underneath coverage at this stage of his development; gets good depth when dropping; has smooth cross over ability with good underneath route awareness; reacts well to short / medium throws with excellent speed and burst to the ball. We see the potential to deploy this guy in a variety of alignments not only in coverage but as a pass rusher either on or off the line of scrimmage. Special teams will allow him to make a valuable contribution early in his career. Shows the consistent intensity that is necessary to be an outstanding, dominant player at the next level of competition; never takes plays off and pursues the ball all over the field. You can never count him out of a play. With continued grow and development throughout his senior year, Wallace could be an immediate starter. Regardless he should see early playing time while polishing his skills.
