ADRIAN HUBBARD

Wow Hubbard is certainly a sleeper amongst the 2010 defensive ends and it may be time for some recruiters to answer the alarm clock and take a look at this kid. He is like a southern, greener version of William Gholston. He has great size at about 6-foot-7 and while he does not have as much bulk as Gholston he still looks on film to be a kid with a thick build and the room to add more size. He is a basketball kid who is still fairly new to the sport playing as a senior, but his raw tools are exciting and he does not look lost between the white lines. He can be explosive off the ball and despite his height he can keep good leverage. Flashes the ability to use his hands to engage and shed from blockers, but needs to be more consistent in this area. He displays good raw strength, but can tend to slam into blockers and let them into his chest and he needs to utilize that massive reach of his more. Does a good job of coming across the ball and squeezing down. He is a monster kid who is not going to change directions on a dime, but has good short space quickness. He can motor in a straight line and flashes a good closing burst for a kid his size. He is a good tackler and his reach can allow him to reel in ball carriers and make some plays others could not. As a pass rusher he has work to do, but nice upside. Will flash the ability to get to the shoulder and sink in a rip and work past, but too often attacks the whole man. He can be a tough target to throw offer when he gets his hands up. Hubbard is an interesting kid as a prospect. He has some aspects of his game that he needs to keep working on to allow him to be a more proficient player and squeeze the most out of his abilities. Despite his lack of ideal experience though he certainly seems to get the big picture and can be a disruptive presence. Good prospect with potentially scary upside. Keep an eye on this kid.
